Pile Perch

Pile perch have dusky vertical bar down the center of their silver-gray side. Dusky fins.Dark gray back, silver belly. Dark spot on each gill. Dorsal fin(back fin) with low spinour portion and front(anterior) end of the soft-rayed part much higher than any other section. Deeply forked tail. Pile perch can be found around rocky shores and old piers; mud-bottom bays at inter-tidal zone. Shallow water during the late spring through early winter. They move to deeper water during late winter through to the early spring months. They move to deeper water during the late winter through to the early spring months. They prefer areas with high growth of barnacles and mussels, as well as eelgrass. Fished for off docks and beaches. They can grow to 18 inches and weight up to 5 pounds. The best baits are ..... pile worms, sandworms, shrimp, mussels and small shore crabs. The Breakwater is a great place to try for these delicious fish.
