The Copper Rockfish has a dark brown back with yellow splashed sides often seen with two yellow bands radiating from the eye over the cheek patch. The end half of the lateral line is usually light colored. The belly is white. Coppers live all over the British Columbia coast. You can catch them fishing shallow or down to about 200 feet. Their food items include : crabs, clams, sculpins, shiner perch and shrimp. Jigs, buzzbombs, Gibbs Minnows and any metal jig will work to catch these scrappy fighters. Pier 3 near the Breakwater(where the Princess Mary used to park) is an excellent place to get Coppers, just watch out for the security guard. |
